Ed,

    Yesterday one of our members whose son works at the Corcoran told me that the son had looked at the painting and had determined that the instrument used to mar it was a Sharpie, the markings of it being removable by alcohol.  

    I’d still like to bring the painting to you sometime next week or soon thereafter so that you can see it and recommend what should be done.  But this might be good news.

    Thanks for bringing to my attention the outstanding balance.  You will be sent a check promptly to cover it.

    I look forward to seeing you again.  Thank you for graciously agreeing to take a look at this.

thank you so much for taking care of it... the vandalism to this amazing painting has been so painful, an am glad to hear the painting may be restored.
