Important features
1. Co 0238: (A progeny of CoLK 8102 x Co 775).
· High yielding and high sugared variety suitable for planting
in North Indian States i.e. Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar,
Uttarakhand and Bihar .
· Pol% cane (Sucrose % cane) on par with CoJ 64 during
November, December and January and was better than CoJ 64 during
February and March.
· The cane yield of Co 0238 was higher than that of CoJ 64, CoS
8436, CoSe 03234. Many farmers of Simbhaoli, Pilibhit, Sabitgarh,
Seohara area have obtained 80 to 130 tonnes per hectare cane yield.
· Variety have thick, yellow green canes with cylindrical
internodes, bud cushion, obviate buds and short calceiform
auricle. The clone in free from splits, spines on leaf sheath and
shallow bud groove.
· The fibre content is about 12 to 13%.
· The clone is moderately resistant (MR) to the prevalent races
of red rot pathogen. However, it showed resistant reaction by nodel
method (field resistance).
· The variety showed tolerance to low temperature (December –
January).
· Co 0238 variety is a very good ratooning ability.
2. Co 0239 (A progeny of Co 93016 GC)
· High yielding and highs sugared variety suitable for planting
in North Indian States.
· Pol % cane (Sucrose% cane) on par with CoJ 64 during October
November and December and was better than CoJ 64 during January,
February and March.
· The cane yield of Co 0239 was higher than that of CoJ 64 and
CoS 8436.
· Variety have thick yellow green pinkish canes with
cylindrical internodes, shallow bud groove, round buds, short
lanceolate auricle and weak spines on leaf sheath. The clone is free
from splits, pith and bud cushion.
· The fibre content is about 12%.
· This clones is moderately resistant (MR) to the prevalent
races of red rot. It showed resistant ® by nodal method (field
resistance).
· Co 0239 is a good ratooner.
3. Co 0118 ( A progeny of Co 8347 x Co 86011).
· High yielding and high sugared variety suitable for planting
in north Indian States.
· It has pol% cane (Sucrose% cane) on par with CoJ 64 during
November, December and was better than CoJ 64 during January to
March.
· The cane yield was higher than that of CoJ 64 and CoS 8436.

leaf sheath. The clone is free from splits, pith and bud groove.
· The fibre content is about 11%.
· The clone is moderately resistant to the prevalent races of
red rot pathogen.
· Co 0118 is also suitable for late planting due to fast growth
and quick germination.
· Application of chlorpyriphos with earthing up will be helpful
to control root borer.
· For best result use trench planting.
