I've been trying to get Sshuttle to work on my Mac for about 2 years now. (It's a mid-2011 iMac) I use sites like FastSSH, SSHKit and VPNJantit to make a SSH server and the only error I ever get is 'client: fatal: expected server init string 'SSHUTTLE0001'; got ''

I tried making a folder with the same name in my home directory - didn't work, either. I tried different methods. Using -N and -vvvv and no luck. Is this the fault of sshuttle or the sites?

I'm trying to learn SSH but I don't know a lot right now. And Youtube and Google doesn't provide a lot of information - let alone SShuttle for MacOS. Thank you.

I think the relevant error is:

Could not chdir to home directory /home/sshkit-joeydzloopin/: No such file or directory

You will need to create yourself a home directory and also make you have
have the correct permissions to access it.

I think home directory on a mac is /Users/(yournamehere)/
The error says it needs to be /home/sshkit-joeydzloopin so maybe try
creating that and chowning like Brian says.
Disclaimer: I'm not using a mac, but the discrepancy between the error
and the complaint are clear enough that it seems reasonable to
comment. Maybe check the Mac instructions need to be updated? Or
maybe the this kind of detail is in sshkit's docs? Are you
comfortable with ssh, Eric, or is it something you just installed to
get to sshuttle?

Been trying to get sshuttle to work for like 2 years now. Never any luck. I did make a folder with the name in the home directory. I was CD'd in the folder and into the sshuttle folder - tried both. Still didn't work. Not too familiar with SSH.

Ok so if I need admin permission, I sudo'd before adding in the command. Asked for the fingeprint...I said yes. Same result. I CD'd into sshuttle folder, I then CDd into the folder I made with the name...it always said the same error. And i don't know what "chowning" means.
