The Singapore Secondary Schools Debating Championships Division II and
III Grand Final event will be held this Friday (26th April) at
Anglo-Chinese Junior College (25 Dover Close East, Singapore 139745).
During the prize-presentation ceremony at the end of the event, we
will be presenting trophies and certificates to the members of all the
teams who reached the quarter-finals or further in Divisions II and
III this year.
I'd be grateful if you could check names of the students from your
school in the attached document. If any of the names are incorrect or
are spelled incorrectly, please let me know. Otherwise these are the
names which will be printed on the certificates.
I look forward to seeing you and your students at the Grand Finals on
Friday. Please note that the parents and immediate family members of
students who will be receiving prizes are also invited to attend if
they would like to.
The prize-presentation ceremony will begin as soon as the Division II
Grand Final and Floor Debate finishes (which will be some time between
8.30 and 9.00 pm). However rather than just coming for the
prize-presentation ceremony at the end of the evening, I would
encourage your debaters to come for the whole event, beginning at 6.00
pm. This will not only allow them to watch the Grand Final debates,
but also to participate in Floor Debates at the end of the 2 main
debates in which students in the audience will get to make short
speeches on the debate motions. If they do, they will also be in with
a chance of winning one further prize - the trophy for the 'Best Floor
Speaker'.
Regards,
Mark Gabriel
Tournament Director
