Like Navy is denying retention of accommodation to SSC officer...
Navy don't have a fixed policy for SSC officer...
Industry don't recognize our navy experience....we all don't want to be admin head, security officer in PSU....or facility manger....after doing our BE.

I had the privilege of serving the nation for last ten years as a Short Service Commissioned(SSC) Officer in the Indian Navy. Being SSC I counldt  further extend the service to pension qualifying service of 20 yrs and had to quit in ten years. Since the corporate world are not so keen in receiving the Defence Officers, being an Engineer in Computer Science I am forced to settle down with a low profile job.Down the line after serving the Nation for ten years we are neither settled nor placed under any of the defence retirement benefits.

It is requested that the issue may be taken up and kindly grant pension and medical facilities for all Short Service Officers who had served ten years.

Hi Goldin,

While writing the draft query to PM, here are some points u can include to get your point across more effectively (and bluntly) while meeting the 160 character word limit:

1. There is no other service (central/state/PSU or private) where medical cover is withdrawn the day the employee superannuates. Withdrawal of medical cover is not only unethical, it is illegal and necessary action has to be taken against authorities for manipulating the rules against SSC officers.

2. The factories act grants pensionable service to employees with 10 yrs of service. For essential services such as postal services, pension is granted regardless of years of service. If the pay commission grants pay scales to armed forces on the basis of equating industrial employees to the corresponding ranks in the armed forces and yet considers theirs as an essential service, then under what logic is pension denied to SSC officers.

3. If despite the gross illegality of para 1 and 2 above, the Ministry of Defence decides not to grant pension and medical coverage to SSC officer in the name of reducing the revenue expenditure, then gratuity instead of pension and discontinuation of ECHS/CGHS may be considered for all Central Government and armed forces personnel, along with 100% outsourcing and contract appointment for future recruitments for all services. (only half-joking!)
