WOW TEAM SHELLY.
A lot more learning ( than in conventional teaching) happens when children
engage in meaningful , well-designed activities.
I like the concept AND the photographs.
Keep flowing.

Dear Friends ,
THIS WORKING,LEARNING,EXPLORING,DOING,CREATING WAS NOT ONLY BEAUTIFUL
ABOUT AMAZING....
As the famous quote from The Bhagavad Gita states "Living creatures are
nourished by food and food is nourished by RAIN, rain itself is the water
for future LIFE".
Saving Mother Earth and conserving resources is our moral responsibility.
When we conserve water ,we conserve life !
One such endeavour was taken up by Presidium ,EVS team grade 3, wherein
the students were motivated and sensitized towards saving water in
particularly " rain water harvesting ".
Many working models were created by grade 3 students themselves in the
class which gave them real life experience for saving rain water .
Little hands turned into future water conservers.
How it all happened?
First a story of "magical pond "was used to sensitized children for rain
water harvesting . Then after a long discussion about the entire process,
we felt a need to demonstrate and to give a real life experience by making
a working model in the class with them .
They were motivated to bring waste material from home : shoe box, 2
plastic boxes, straws etc .
They got very excited and next day Khyati of 3-c brought a shoe box
which was covered and made a house by the children in the class.
Myra brought a plastic box which was made a roof top and Tripti brought
another plastic box that was made a storage tank. Then the connectivity
was made from rooftop to storage tank and back to house through straws .
Children were very excited as they did ,reflected and applied their
knowledge enthusiastically .Everyone in the class was so engrossed and
gave many innovative ideas to make their model successful . Finally , we
poured water on the roof top depicting rain and YES !! to everyone
surprise it started flowing to storage tank through straws. Every one in
the class got thrilled and shouted "Yippee !!!! Ma'am we did it , ma'am
we made it, it works .... !!!!" And started clapping with excitement .
The atmosphere was so charged in the classroom and in their sparkling
eyes I could see future "water conservers ".
This was surely my WOW moment and a reaffirmation of how giving
experience to students ignite young minds , make them innovative and
excited to learn more. This was indeed an enriching experience for
children .
Some pictures and will share some recording soon.
Regards,
Team Shelly
