to Towards a New Synthesis of Evangelical Christianity and Science
Interestingly, Revelation doesn't talk about one spirit of God but
instead talks about 7 spirits. The 7 spirits are tied to the 7
churches with names in Asia Minor, but if we interpret these names to
be the spirits of things that exist today, maybe the 7 spirits refer
to to 7 different flavors of Christianity that exist today.
The 7 brands of Christianity might be General Protestantism,
Pentacostalism, Peace Churches like Quakers and Mennonites (the Church
of Philadelphia), Catholicism, Orthodox, Coptic and ???.
Alternatively the 7 spirits may refer to 7 kinds of world religions:
Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Anism (like Shinto)
and ???.
Again maybe the 7 spirits are 7 kinds of people, Africans, Asians,
Whites, Semites, Hispanic, Australians, and North American Indian. Or
maybe Whites and Semites are the same and we can include another, the
Pacific Islanders.
Maybe these are all true at the same time and as my mother points ou
the 7 spirits could have reference to the 7 days of the week and the 7
days in which God created the earth...
