Here's a paper with Richard McGarvey's team in Australia in which we demonstrate how SS3 with platoons can substantially reduce bias in estimation of Linf when size-based selectivity is causing more fishing mortality on the larger fish in a cohort. We encourage you to consider this option. I suspect that some findings of dome-shaped selectivity in your results may alternatively be due to historical asymptotic selectivity having already reduced the occurrence of larger fish before much data become available. Importantly, this is a reversible effect and SS3 will take it into account when calculating MSY if you use platoons.
