Fracking in Scio Township... meeting 4/24/2014

This event is not yet on the Scio calendar... and is not coming up on a search of the Scio website.  So I'm copying the email content to a temporary URL to share until I get an official URL.

Scio Township will be hosting a forum on oil exploration in Scio Township.

As some of you may be aware, many Township residents have received requests to lease their mineral rights in order to allow Traverse City based West Bay Exploration Company to explore for oil. We have received many questions about drilling, fracking (high-pressure hydraulic fracturing), compulsory pooling, etc and how these activities will affect the quality of life in the Township.

In order to assist Township residents in making an informed decision about leasing their mineral rights, we have asked several industry experts to come and speak to us. To that end, we have reserved the meeting room at Washtenaw Intermediate School District (WISD), 1819 S. Wagner Road on Thursday, April 24th from 6:00 p.m – 9:00 p.m. Click here for directions or go to :

We will publish an agenda in the near future but we expect to have Curtis Talley from MSU, Representative Gretchen Driskell as well as legal and environmental experts. We have asked West Bay to send a representative also.
