summary: export to excel file

description: hi it's me again
when I export to an excel-like file (CVS export), it correctly creates a file with what I asked for (in my case it was just the cell parameter), but with "line nr, cell parameter" in the same column. It would be nice if the CVS file were a file directly readable by excel (I normally use TAB as a separator, as commas tend to be more messy)...
thanks
Monica

It seems the problem is caused by importing the CVS file into Excel. I
haven't encountered this problem in my Excel 2010 (windows 7). If your
excel does have this problem, you can try to import the CVS file
manually. Here is an instruction,

1. click 'Get External Data From Text' in 'Data' section (the button
name may different according to your office version)
2. choose the export CVS file
3. choose 'delimited' in step 1
4. choose 'comma' ONLY in step 2
5. hit finish in step 3

Best,

Xiaohao

Hi Monica,

Another thing to try is to just use the File-->Open menu and select
the "text, CSV, ..." format. It should load correctly right away -
at least that is what happens in my Excel 2003. Make sure the
file has extension .csv (comma separated values [NOT CVS]).

If there are still problems, please send us the offending CSV file.

Cheers,

Pavol

Hi Monica, did these solutions work....is it an excel problem or a
SrRietveld problem? Just wanted to close this ticket with an
affirmation from you that the problem is solved.
