SR(A)WN 2017 -- 6

This is the sixth issue of the 2017 Student Robotics (Almost) Weekly Newsletter, a (roughly) fortnightly newsletter which summarises the goings‐on across Student Robotics. Emboldened items are ones which we believe could do with extra hands. An absence of emboldening does not necessarily mean that everything is done.

Minor Headlines

  • The volunteers in Southampton have permananently moved to The SR Slack for all communications.

Thanks to everyone who helped put this issue together. If you would like, you can also read the previous issue.

I can't look right now, but this data is in priv/teams.git (there's a
field on each team based on TLAs from the past few years, though this
may meed double-checking in case TLAs have been re-used and/or teams
have had long absences). Someone with proper access could look (I'll
do so over the weekend if no-one else has done so by then).

Does this include moving away from the Southampton specific mailing list?

Does this include communication with non-Southampton people?

Thanks,
Peter

No, though the mailing list hasn't been used much, we in Southampton are going to use it more.

Sorry for being a bit too lax on the wording,
we were previously using facebook messenger but wanted to use something a bit more open to people joining. I should also mention we're not dropping IRC, but all major communications for Southampton will go over the slack.

Thanks,

Hi,

I've just had a look at the post [0] and the question of whether
they're a rookie is moot as the robot doesn't perform the required
moves for the first movement award.

For the record though, I can't find a record of Godalming College
having competed in the last few years, and teams.git has them set as a
rookie.

Thanks,
Peter

which shows a robot driving one-way along a table top and possibly off
the end (the video stops before the robot stops moving).
