LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Please join us for our Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 26th 6:30pm at the Susie Rayos Marmon Elementary School Café, located on the corner of 72nd & Juniper. Even if you feel things are going great in our neighborhood please attend so we can maintain a great neighborhood.
After a vote at last year’s annual meeting the board has decided to limit the “hard copy” newsletter to be distributed once a year in April before our annual meeting, The other three quarterly newsletters will be available on the website at srmna.org along with any and all information that pertains to our area, so please check the website frequently for any updates or information that we need to get out to the association. And as always the website is the vehicle to use to get in touch with the board members.
Please send your very inexpensive annual dues of $12 to 3301-R Coors Blvd NW, #196, Abq, NM 87120, This is to help ensure that the neighborhood association stays established. Please notify us any and all concerns that you might be having within the neighborhood or in your area. And as ALWAYS call 242-2677 with any and all situations that arise, as we have been told by APD, if you hesitate to call the problem or issue will not be resolved. - Deaun Lewis
PARKING REMINDER
We are receiving a high number of complaints that some homeowners are parking their camping trailers, boats, large commercial vehicles, or hauling trailers in their driveway, side yards or along the street curb. Only those homeowners who have access to their backyards may park these types of vehicles there. Some are parking their vehicles in the graveled/grassed areas of their front yards which was meant to be landscaping. Those of you doing so make our neighborhood look “tacky”.A reminder that it is a violation of the City Ordinance to park vehicles in prohibited portions of your front yard. Parking of recreational vehicles for extended periods of time is also prohibited with the exception of back yard parking. This may be a good time for you to review your sub-division covenants to check for possible violations.
Any violations should be reported to 311 for Zoning to take action!
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR RESIDENTS WITHIN THE SUSIE RAYOS MARMON NEIGHBORHOOD
Many of the positions below have been held, for years now, by the same small group of people. It would be wonderful, and fairer, if we had more people involved in the functioning of the neighborhood.
Board Member:
- Purpose – monitor activity with the neighborhood, distribution of information of interest to residents, provide oversight of neighborhood policies and regulations, liaison with city and county officials
- Commitment – 2-3 Board meetings per year or as needed (most communication has been via email), attend/lead Annual Meeting, assist with other events as necessary
Executive Committee Members
- President – schedules and leads Annual Meeting and Board meetings, assures each Board member has adequate information to make decisions, assures non-profit paperwork is completed and submitted annually
- Vice-President – takes place of President whenever necessary,
- Secretary – takes and distributes minutes from all meetings
- Treasurer – write checks as necessary, deposit dues and other monies, reconcile checkbook and report balances
- (Note: The Board has generally consisted of the 4 Executive Committee members as well as 1 at-large member to make 5 people on the Board.)
Other Volunteer Opportunities:
- Representative to the West Side Coalition of Neighborhood Associations – attend the monthly meeting of WSCONA and vote according to the consensus of the Board Members on behalf of the residents.
- Newsletter Editor – assemble information/articles and layout of the newsletter 2-3 times per year, arrange for printing and distribution
- Newsletter Distribution Committee – 4-5 people to take the newsletter to all residents as necessary (Note: Starting with the fall newsletter, this will be done electronically to as many residents as possible.)
- Website Monitor – submit material to SRMNA Web Master for inclusion on the website and monitor responses
- Sign Board Editor – decide on announcements for the sign board on Ouray and change on a regular basis or as necessary, maintain the letters needed for the sign
- Event Committee Members – to plan special events for the neighborhood such as a neighborhood wide yard sale, family picnic/BBQ, Holiday Lights contest
