The following incidents were reported by a SRMNA resident:
Sometime last week, on Cayman Ct. in our neighborhood, two cars had their stereos stolen. Both cars had been left unlocked. Other cars at that household and on that street nearby were locked, and not damaged.
Also, one homeowner in that area related this tale: he had his garage door open very late at night recently, and was in the garage, sitting in a chair reading, with lights on. He noticed a car pull up and park at the end of the street, then saw the occupants get out, walk up the street, and snap a photo of his open garage with the car in it, never noticing that he was there. He did not confront them, and when they were done, they drove away. Certainly this may be one way some thieves "case" homes and personal property for planning break-ins and robberies.
Please remember to close and lock your doors, leave lights on when you are away, and report suspicious vehicles and activity to 242-COPS. Thieves will move elsewhere if there are no easy marks here. Other crime prevention tips can be found at the following Web site: Burglary Prevention (APD).
