Subject: Vaishnava Seva: His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami visiting Seattle on Thursday, May 4th through Saturday, May 6th
Hare Krishna Dear Devotees,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada!!!
His Holiness Bhakti Charu Swami, a leading disciple of ISKCON’s Founder-acharya, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, is visiting Seattle on Thursday, May 4th through Saturday, May 6th
Last year in 2016 HH Bhakti Charu Swami launched his book 'Ocean of Mercy'. In Ocean of Mercy Bhakti Charu Swami guides readers on an intimate autobiographical journey that only a faithful insider—one who was blessed to personally serve a spiritual master of Srila Prabhupada’s oceanic stature—can authoritatively describe. The book recounts a pivotal moment when, as a Bengali youth enamored by the Western world, Bhakti Charu Swami was challenged in Germany by a new-found American friend who insulted Mother India. For the first time, the young man felt affection and love for his native country. Yet it wasn’t until he met Srila Prabhupada, who glorified India’s sanatana dharma culture all over the world, that Bhakti Charu Swami was able to offer a lifetime of service to establish the indispensable necessity of India’s transcendental wisdom and culture, based on the Bhagavad Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam.
Recently, on November 17th 2016, Bhakti Charu Swami was given a special award by members of the United Nations in New York in recognition of his lifetime achievements as a guru, translator, book publisher, Krishna conscious filmmaker, recorder of devotional music, and author. Asked by Srila Prabhupada to translate his books into Bengali, along with his many other duties, Bhakti Charu Swami succeeded in translating all of his spiritual master’s works on major Vedic literatures—more than fifty volumes—into Bengali. Subsequently, he became a member of the Governing Body Commission of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness and served as its chairman in 1989.
In 1996 he embarked on the production of a 104-episode television series on the life of Prabhupada, called Abhay Caran in conjunction with Indian National Television. A pioneer of the Vrindavan Institute for higher Education (VIHE), in February 2006 Bhakti Charu Swami built a temple in the holy city of Ujjain. The Ujjain-ISKCON temple feeds 23,000 school children daily.
