Maha Prasad

Sri Jagannath Chariot Festival will be celebrated with great devotion on Saturday, June 27th 2009 at the magnificent Wayne Hindu Temple. The festive procession will be taken out on Wayne city road. Many Devotees will get the opportunity of touching/embracing the deities during the Pahandi event. Devotees, young and old, will participate in the festival and pull the beautifully decorated Rath. Cultural Programs and Mahaprasad will follow the event.

 

Bahuda Yatra -  Return Rath Yatra
will be celebrated on Sunday, July 5th 2009. On this day Lord Shree Jagannath, Shree Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, Lord Sudarshan (the Chakra of Lord Krishna) and Madan Mohan will return from Gundicha Temple to the main temple. As per the rituals the deities will get decorated with golden attire (Suna Vesa) and Bhajan program will continue.

Rath Yatra Maha Pooja Starting at 3pm on June 27th
Chariot Pulling at 5pm, Cultural Program at 7pm, Mahaprasad at 8pm.

 

Bahuda Yatra Starting at 3pm on July 05th
Chariot Pulling at 4pm, Religious Discourse at 5pm, Mahaprasad at 8pm.

♦  Snan Poornima
 
 
 
Held on the full-moon day of the month of Jyestha the "Devasnana Poornima or Snana Yatra", a famous festival of Lord Jagannath to be performed with great devotion. On this day the idols will be taken out in procession called as "Pahandi" along with the accompaniment of music and beating of drums to the "Snana Mandap". The bathing festival will take place for an hour on the Poornima day. After the 108 Kalash water bath the deities will be dressed up in the Gaja/Ganesh Vesa and carried with full rituals to the Anabasara (otherwise known as Anasara) Ghara.

Celebration Date & Time: June 7th Sunday starting at 4:30pm Come and be privileged with giving bath to  Lord Jagannath, Devi Subhadra and Lord Balabhadra by pouring water-filled holy Sankalpa Pitcher ( Kumbha ) yourself. Netrotsaba  Festival
The festival of the first appearance of the Lord Jagannath to his devotees after 2 weeks of fever is called Netrotsaba or Nava Yaubana (new youth). Temple will celebrate "Netrotsava" on Jun 17th Wednesday and Lord Jagannath will return to the Pooja Mandap with Naba Yaubana Vesa on this day.
