The kainkaryam at Srimaan Trust reminds one of the kainkaryam that Thirumangai Azhwar performed. The moment he initiated the thought of annadanam for 1008 devotees on a daily basis, he immediately implemented it. He did not sit and wonder about the availability of resources, how he would be able to execute this task, etc. He mobilized the wealth from the royal treasure, the amount received as taxes, and from every possible source in order to sustain the daily annadaanam… In this pursuit, he ends up being a financial bankrupt. Despite the shortage of funds, somehow he manages and executes his kaikaryam.

 

In a similar manner, we have embarked on this daily Annadaanam project only with the thought of reaching out to hungry mouths. Through this project, we have reached out to more than 40 villages in and around Srirangam distributing prasadams to over 10,000 people per day. Thousands of people are waiting and in dire need of food. Because, at present, they have work only for 15 days a month, and are surviving on hand-to-mouth basis and are struggling a lot. But for this annandanam, they would starve to death. Even as this has begun from that noble intention of the Founder, our Swami, we also have been experiencing the pinch. We also have incurred heavy loans. And in order to meet these debts, we don’t have the option of following the ‘Forced method’ adopted by Thirumangai Azhwar. However, the divine grace of the Azhwar, would definitely lead us towards the continued implementation of this mission. We seek the support of each one of you in any way that suits you.. by word of mouth, by your physical contribution, by financial donation, or by your prayers for the successful redemption of our debts.

 

In fact, we consider this debt as a gift. When we start thinking of how a kainkaryam can be carried forward, it brings along lots of other doubts.. and any noble act can never get kick started. So, we actually step into action mode, and many more join in the journey and help in implementing it. Seeking all your help in reinforcing this resolve of Debt as a Gift!
