EXTENSION TO THE ANANTAPUR WATER PROJECT COMMENCED

The District Collector of Anantapur,Sri V.Durgadas performed Bhoomi Pooja for the proposed extension of the Anantapur Water Project that would cater to an additionlal 2.5 Lakh population across three mandals,Puttaparthi,Kothacheruvu and Bukkapatnam in the district.The Rs 80 crore would draw  10 MLD of water for 11k habitants.


The Bhumi Puja was performed at the Agricultural  Market yard near MRO’s office,Kothacheruvu. In a pleasant function attended ,among others ,by the Trustees of the Sathya Sai Central Trust.


Speaking on the occasion,Mr Ratnakar, Trustee of the Sathya Sai Central Trust said "The construction works of the  mega drinking water project at Kothacheruvu in Anantapur district would mitigate drinking water problem in the entire erstwhile Sathyasai taluk,including three mandals in the district.The trust was providing financial assistance of Rupees 80 crore for the water project" ,He added that about 80 kms of pipeline would be laid covering all the 118 villages in the area.He added that the first project ,after the demise of Baba,was initiated to provide drinking water to his own taluka."Nearly 2.5 lakh population would get fluoride-free water in 118 villages,which were in the clutches of heavy fluoride content presently"

 

Releasing a brochure on the proposed drinking water project,collector V.Durgadas said that the government would extend required support in completing the project.He said that the government has already alloted 1.5 acres of land for the construction of tank at Kothacheruvu mandal headquarters.


Puttaparthi MLA Palle Raghunatha Reddy expressed his gratitude for taking up the drinking water project in his constituency.Mr Reddy appealed to the trust to extend the project to remaining villages of Puttaparthi Assembly constituency.
