MANAGING COUNCIL MEETING NOTES-3/14/17
Members present: Gary Wright, Ingrid Appelhagen, Gale Boldt, Patricia Gayman, Dave Williams, and Jim Brunsman
Following the opening prayer, we discussed the developments on the pew reupholstery project. Gale informed us that the contract has been forwarded to the Mother Center for approval. Our contractor from Utah has also agreed to disassemble the pews outdoors under a tent to help mitigate the spread of dust in the chapel.
Gary reported on the enthusiasm generated at a meeting last Sunday of the newly formed Young Adults Group (YAG). Several younger devotees have agreed to meet on a regular basis for meditation, fellowship and social outings. The group agreed to meet at the park near the Center on Mission Street for group meditations and other ideas are being considered.
Ingrid spoke about the need for additional help for the landscape committee. She suggested that we give more duties to the Center gardener and suggested that we get an hourly bid for some of the more challenging landscape duties.
Center security remains an important issue. Gale reports that since we put locks on exterior water spigots, and employed the security patrol, we have seen no evidence of transient activity on the property. The council has decided that we will postpone purchasing gates for now until we have given security cameras a chance. We plan to consult with our maintenance experts prior to investing in cameras.
Dave reported on progress with the sound panels for the social hall. Dave said that there have been many consultations with the SRF building and planning department to develop a plan that works for our social hall. This includes using CAD (Computer Aided Design) to custom design the sound panels. The arches will be cut with a computer generated machine and we are getting bids for this work. A combination of sound absorbing materials is planned in order to minimize both high and low frequency noise.
The next Managing Council meeting is slated for April 11th.
Respectfully submitted,
Jim Brunsman
