MANAGING COUNCIL MEETING-9/8/20

Members present: Gary Wright, Betty Hillman, Patricia Gayman, Gale Boldt, Jeneba Lahai, Dave Williams, and Jim Brunsman

  Gary led the monthly zoom Managing Council meeting with s reopening update. For the foreseeable future there are no events planned at the Sacramento Center due to the continued COVID-19 situation.

  Updating of the kitchen area has begun. Patricia is soliciting bids for a kitchen specialist and we are learning what materials are necessary and cost effective. The other project under consideration is painting the window frames in the chapel. Following application of a special coating for protection, we plan to paint the frames white.

  Dave Williams reported on the Health and Safety Committee manual. The members are composing different sections. The Emergency Medical Procedures manual is nearly finished to be followed by the security plan which will be submitted to the Managing Council for editing.

  The next Committee Chair Meeting is scheduled for next Tuesday, September 15 at 7:00 via Zoom. We will check in with each committee chair to determine what issues they are facing. There will also be a question and answer session to communicate on important matters.

  Brother Devananda joined the meeting near the end and we discussed the latest developments for reopening SRF groups. Brother spoke of the steps that will be required in order to reopen the Phoenix Temple and they are not ready yet. Brother suggested putting out in our newsletter the reasons why we have yet to reopen. He encouraged us to attend the online meditations and stressed the importance of individual meditation.  The next Managing Council Meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13 at 6:30.
