Los Gatos Center Announcements – July 18, 2013

We are blessed to have monks from the Self-Realization Order visiting the Los Gatos Center and conducting services over the weekend of July 19-21. On Friday evening, July 19th, devotees are welcome to join the monks at a nearby restaurant. Please contact Jan Ryan for details: 408-227-7070.

On Saturday, July 20th, Br. Devananda will lead a four-hour meditation with kirtan, starting at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 1:00 p.m. On Sunday, July 21st, the monks will lead the morning services. Afterward, all are invited to stay for a vegetarian potluck luncheon.

Please note that there will NOT be a Gita Meditation Group on Sunday morning, July 21st. The Gita Meditation Group will resume its normal 9:00 a.m. meeting time on Sunday, July 28th.

Please bring a vegetarian dish to share with the monks and your fellow devotees at the potluck luncheon on Sunday, July 21st. Main dishes, finger foods, salads, fruits, snacks, and desserts are all welcome additions.

If you are interested in attending the Center Representatives Conference at the Lake Shrine on Saturday, August 3rd, prior to the start of the annual SRF Convocation, please sign the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board downstairs.

Please read what current SRF president, Mrinalini Mata, has to say about serving:

We say or think, “Lord, it’s too much.  I don’t want to do this; I won’t do it.  There is good that needs to be accomplished in the world, but Lord, let somebody else do it.  It’s too difficult for me to put forth that effort.

Then what is God going to do?  He is left with no one to work His goodness in the world. He says, ”Where are my hands?  Where is my mouth? Where is my brain?  On earth they are in the children I have created in My divine image.”  But how many will accept the responsibility and say, “All right, Lord, here I am.  I will do Your work.”

And you do not know how happy you make Her each time you stand up and be that Divine child, saying: ”I will do it, Divine Mother; I will be Your hands and feet and speech.  I will be the one who thinks thoughts of kindness and compassion and understanding… This child will do good.  This child wants only to be your instrument.”

(Self-Realization Magazine, Summer 2013, “Walking the Spiritual Path with God” by Mrinalini Mata, p. 23)

More ushers and service readers are needed for midweek and Sunday services!! If you are a current SRF Lessons student and interested in serving Master’s organization as an usher, please sign the usher sign-up sheet on the bulletin board downstairs or contact Virender Bhola (vkb...@yahoo.com). Please include both your email address and a contact phone number. Training will be provided.

If you are a Kriyaban and wish to serve as a reader, please sign the sheet on the bulletin board downstairs or talk with Ramesh (rkrishn...@gmail.com)  or Ellen (ellen...@comcast.net), the service reader co-chairs.

The book room, located downstairs at the Center, is open on Sundays from 12 noon until 12:30 p.m.

In divine friendship,
Self-Realization Fellowship,
Los Gatos Center
