Los Gatos Center Announcements – December 6, 2012
Because of rehearsals for the Christmas Play, the long Sunday meditation on December 9th will begin one hour later at 3 p.m.
Volunteers are needed to help out with making sandwiches and assembling lunch bags for the less fortunate in our community. This monthly activity will take place in the Sunday School rooms downstairs after the morning services on December 9th.
The last practice for this year's Christmas play to be performed on December 16th will be held on Sunday, December 9th. Sunday school children and teens who are participating will be provided a snack and then practice from 12:30 until 2:15 p.m. Children 6 and under should be at the rehearsal December 9th for the first hour only.
Self-Realization Fellowship warmly invites you, your family, and friends to a Christmas Open House at the Mother Center in Los Angeles on Saturday afternoon, December 8th, from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.
It’s not too early to start preparing for the All-Day Monastic-led Christmas Meditation with kirtan on Saturday, December 15th, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. with a break midway. Guidelines to help you prepare for this very special meditation are available on the greeter’s table in the foyer at the Center and on the Center’s website (www.losgatoscenter.com).
Br. Girish, our monastic liaison to Self-Realization Fellowship, will be one of two monks visiting our Center on the weekend of December 15-16. At 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, December 16th, newcomers are invited to a welcome and information session prior to a beginner’s meditation at 10:00 a.m. led by Br. Girish. If you have any friends or family members who are interested in learning to meditate, this guided meditation would be a perfect opportunity for them to give it a try in a supportive atmosphere. At 11:00 a.m., one of the monks will conduct the reading service with an inspirational lecture. Shortly after 12 noon, the children and teens will put on a Christmas play with Christmas carols for everyone to sing. After the play, all are invited to stay for a vegetarian luncheon and fellowship.
The Self-Realization Fellowship Center Department supports many Meditation Centers and Groups throughout the world including our Center. In addition to providing guidance to the managing council, they arrange our monastic visits. There is a box in the foyer to collect funds for a Christmas gift for the Center Department. Your contributions to this year's gift are much appreciated.

The book room, located downstairs at the Los Gatos Center, is open each Sunday from 12 noon to 12:30 p.m. Please do not bring food or drink into the book room or the sanctuary.
