Good morning,
Tomorrow mornings practice (Saturday July 11th) will be the annual swim-a-thon. This is a practice where the swimmers will take part in a practice to swim a certain number of laps minimum during a pre determined amount of time. For the older mites and the 9 and older we will split the group in two and give each group a certain amount of time to swim as many laps as possible. They can chose any strokes, take breaks as needed, or even kick. We will then swap groups. The younger mites will complete laps with coaches monitoring and still working on skills. We will play music and have treats for all swimmers who complete the practice.
Each year we choose an organization to raise donations for. The his year we will raise money for Comfort Zone Camp. CZC is an organization that provides free bereavement camps for children who have lost a loved one (typically parents or siblings). These camps allow the child to blend features of a traditional outdoor camp with specialized grief counseling and activities. They were founded in Virginia in 1998 and have provided camps for over 25,000 grieving children.
If you feel inclined we would encourage people to donate what they can to this wonderful organization. It is not necessary to take part in the swim-a-thon.
