Funding for SRTS grants

Hi Jim and SRTS team at Eberwhite,

I wanted to make sure you know that with extensions of the federal
transportation bill in past months, funding has been available for
Safe Routes to School grants. There is a new application form online
(they are back to using a paper application) and upcoming review dates
are listed on the Michigan Fitness Foundation's Safe Routes website:
http://saferoutesmichigan.org/funding Thuston Elementary in Ann Arbor
just submitted a grant and is awaiting the review process.

If you think you're going to want to apply for engineering projects, I
would suggest to be in close contact with the City before doing any
grant writing. The city must be the lead applicant for the engineering
section and will you need a resolution from city council that they
support the application.
