I'm on a learning curve here. Randi said curbside yard waste pick=ups have a 50 lb. limit.

I don't know what has filled the Yard Waste Only barrel at this point, as I just took it out to the curb - with difficulty. It may be too heavy for them to accept for pick-up.

I didn't add anything to it. I was surely too tired to figure it out tonight, and in the dark, as I dragged it around and to the curb at Broadway/Boardman.

I don't think the rain pooled inside as the top was on.
Is there SOIL (let alone rocks) in there?

Soil does not go in the barrels for curbside pickup, nor in SB park trash cans (I've found soil in there TWO times, and have feared the city would blame me for it.) Soil makes pick-up media TOO HEAVY for reasonable workers to be expected to handle. Soil goes in our compost bins when time cmes. Soil can go to curb in small amounts, which Charlie has arranged w/ DPW.

We'll see tomorrow. my every are sleepy-closing.

Til next - Hatch

Thanks Hatch for your post...

The rain definitely put a literal damper on our weeding session this
afternoon. Thanks to anyone who was able to attend. We decided not
to, considering the weather. Of course, weeders are always welcome--
in any kind of weather!

Let's shoot to have another weeding event sometime next week. I am
away next week on vacation, but let's set Wednesday afternoon from
5-7 as a possible time.

Let's also try to organize a Sunday wedding session and barbecue
(maybe?) sometime later this month.

I'm headed out of town for about a week and would love help watering
the containers near the hose cabinet. Though I did plant these
containers, I see them as community adventures, so always feel free
to pick or water or...There is some nice basil there as well as some
cukes coming in. I would deeply appreciate anyone's giving the
containers some water if they are dry. Containers dry out easily in
the summer heat unlike plots.

Thanks to those who offered to help me with watering my plot; it
looks as if that might not be necessary with this wet weather! Thanks
though!

Best all,

Linda

Hi everyone,
I have some Cauliflower seeds to give away! I planted three heads in my garden earlier this Spring, and didn't have much luck with them. But I think that's more a statement on my skills and the finickyness of cauliflower plants, rather than seed quality.

I think there is still time to plant them for a fall crop if you plant them very soon.

If anyone's interested in taking these seeds, I'll be in the garden this Wednesday and Friday from 5:30-6:15 (unless it rains), and I'll have them with me. If you would like them, but can't come to the garden at those times, let me know and we can arrange another time to meet!

Hi Catherine,
I would love a few cauliflower seeds for the Art Center garden especially if we could get a crop in the fall but the real question for me is...'what are the proper conditions needed to successfully grow cauliflower. I wondered why my zucchini plants have stopped producing and then I walked around the garden and saw only one garden that was still producing. I wonder what that fellow gardener is doing,.... or is it the location of the garden or when the plants were planted.
I would love more of a dialogue. ??phone numbers ?

What do you all think?
