Fellow gardeners,

In her e-mail last Monday (7/28), Renee asked
What weeding still needs to be completed?

1)      Generally the more numerous weeds in that part of your plot furthest from your entry point, not surprisingly.  This could be by the fence anywhere, or bordering your neighbor’s interior.
2)      Weeds hidden under your vines and all !!!   .... and ready to seed despite the shade of competition from those vegetable plants !  Weeds are weeds because they’re better at growing any where, any way -- than the other plants !!

Purposes:  Protect
a)      your neighbor’s plot;
b)      the garden and park borders outside our fence;
c)      the garden pathway, which this year we are “on the path” to successfully clearing of all weeds (… thank you also to Charlie, and some others who have indeed removed some of the pathway weeds too);
d)
the Area Four neighborhood  one less local weed germinator !!
e)      yourself  less work next year, and meanwhile more water goes directly to your vegetables;  and
f)      for all of us, easier fall clean-up, and  hmm…
g)      we might even look better on CCTV some day !!

Looks like we'll need to get another "Yard Waste Only" and "Gorgeous Greens" barrel for the continuing inflow.  Our Gorgeous Greens barrel is full.  Then maybe we'll really have to find a way to use the paper bags, and cope with their flimsiness in the rain.
