Hello YMCA squashers,

For anyone thinking of playing league this winter (or not), there is a season opener tournament and party at the Chevy Chase Athletic Club. Details are in the email below. CCAC is the newest squash venue in the area and they have brand new courts. The club is run by a local squash power-couple, Connie and Rod Barnes, who are two of the best squash players in the area. If you can't make the tournament or the party, do not miss the exhibition match on Sunday between two former world #1 players. If you have never seen squash played at this level, it will blow your mind!

National Capital Squash   Squash Extravaganza Weekend Friday to Sunday!   Season Opener Tournament Oct. 12-14. This year the National Capital Squash Season Opener tournament is at Chevy Chase Athletic Club Oct. 12-14 with draws for all skill levels, women and age groups! This tournament is $75 for NCS members (a savings of $25 compared to nonmembers) and promises to be fun event with social activities too!  Registration is now open here (scroll down on the page).  The deadline is Wednesday at 5 PM.   Juniors -- you can enter this tournament to get good match skill practice (though no junior ranking points are available).    Season Opener Social Party Saturday, Oct. 13, 6-10 PM   Come  to the free season opener party and professional exhibition match at Chevy Chase Athletic Club featuring Canada's #1 Shahier Razik and Botswana’s National Champion and local Pro Lekgotla Mosope.  The match starts at 6:30.  Connect with squash friends, learn about upcoming squash events this season in the Washington area while enjoying great food and drinks!  The Club is located at 5454 Wisconsin Ave, the site of the 18 story Barlow Building. Catch the elevator to the 18th floor, or the 17th floor and the stairs to the 18th floor.  There are also clinics that evening with Shahier Razik.  More info here.   You must register to attend the party -- reserve your spot here.   Squash Legends Gaultier v Shabana Sunday Oct. 14   Former World #1s Gregory Gaultier and Amr Shabana will battle Sunday October 14th at 12:00 Noon at Chevy Chase Athletic Club.  Gourmet pizzas and drinks will be served.  The cost is $40 to watch (or $35 if you play the tournament).  Get your tickets here.   Women's Squash Night, Wednesday, Oct. 10! Due to a water main break, we had to reschedule women's squash night.  Reserve your spot at Women's Squash Night now -- it's free and open to NCS members and nonmembers!    A brand new Harrow Kasey Brown racquet and Harrow Blue Bag will be door prizes. "Women's Squash Week" T-shirts for every participant while supplies last. Kick off the fall season, meet other players at your level, Learn about local clinics, leagues, and tournaments and have a hit with old friends and new.
