Hi all, apologies for the Facebook crosspost, but just in case some of
you are here, not there and can (or want) to help.
Hi SCCers,
The father of a family friend is working on a project and is in search
of an illustrator. It is a very-political satire piece in the style of
a children's book parable, critical of the current US administration.
If you don't mind that, and you're good good with anthropomorphic
animals, and can churn out something like 30 full-page illustrations
(About 10-12 of which do not share the page with text) and would like
to take a look at this to see if it may be your kind of project, let
me know and I can either provide some additional info and/or connect
you to the author. For a number of reasons, primarily that I am
notoriously late (sorry Em and Alex, you have the patience of saints)
and the timeline on this is somewhat tight (they want to try to get to
print in December), I am passing on this.

On another note, if anyone is aware of a marketplace/website I can
send the author to find a potential artist match if nobody here is a
good fit, I'd appreciate that info as well. An odd gap in my
knowledge, but I don't know where/what the illustrator market website
is, or the "gig economy" version, if that's even a good way to find an
artist....

Thanks, all.

In the past, the best place to find artists was Deviant Art. They have an entire set of forums for artists looking for work. It's entirely possible that's not the best resource anymore, but it worked for me.

I think the key question that your friend has to ask himself is "how much money is he willing to pay up front for art?" Based on the questions that you've passed to the group so far, it seems like he's on a fishing expedition based on a good idea that he really doesn't know how to execute.

Also, getting something to print by December is VERY aspirational, unless he's planning to self-publish.

Matt
