Nate and I played this scenario using VSQL in a virtual "face to face" match, using Discord to do live chat.
Nate had the defending Germans and I the attacking Americans. We met up online, exchanged pleasantries and away we went.
As a reminder, the objective for the American Player is to take and hold 2 buildings in the German area. The defenders have 8 squads, 2 crews, an HMG, 4 LMGs, 4 Panzerfausts and a 75L AT Gun. They also get 2 SPW 231/2 Halftracks, a Pz VI H, A STG IIIG (105) and a Pz VI E "Tiger". Nate was able to set up a squad and any SW and any one leader with it, either the 9-2, 8-1 or 8-0. Also, the AT Gun could set up HIP. The Germans got to boresight as well.
For me as the attacking force, I got 12 squads, 2 x MMG, 4 x 44a Bazookas and plenty of armor. That was 5 x M4A3 (75), an M3 ht, 3 x M10 GMC and 3 trucks.
My plan was quite simple: move a force with my 9-1 leader and the MMGs up straight in to act as a covering force to isolate the western objective. Simultaneously, I would move in two attacking elements. The main force would go for the western objective and the second would go for the eastern objective. By going for both, my plan was to divide his effort, allowing me to focus where I needed.
The attack went in pretty much as planned, but I did run into trouble later. But at first, I got the Western Objective almost Scott-free. I was able to double-break most of his force in there and I took and held that objective with 5 squads and a leader. The other squads for the attacking force went wide and ended up running into the teeth of Nate's defences, namely, his hidding AT Gun. It made short work of my M10 GMCs, but using the gyrostabilizers in my M4s, I was able to cause the AT gun some concern. In the end, it was the reliable Infantry that broke the crew and allowed my 10-2 and his assaulting force of 3 x 667 US infantry to move up under cover of smoke from an M4. I survived all defensive fire and ended up taking the building in some very uneven close combat.
With both objectives in my grip, it was now time for me to defend my gains. Unfortunately for me, my ht's MGs malfed on their first shot and I lost the MA of an M4 as well. Nate's Tiger went to work and survived some close combat by me. Most of the panzer faust shots were ineffective, but Nate did knock out a tank that way. But in the end, I just killed too much infantry for Nate to really recover. I ended up taking out his STG and Pz IV H, but as I said during play, I could lose all my tanks and still win as I just needed to take and hold the buildings. But with so many Germany infantry falling victim to my fire, at the end of the day, the bill was too high for Nate.
Great fun!

My infantry is up top, the tank symbol is my M4 force, and finally my M10 GMCs went wide and ended up just littering the battlefield.
His AT Gun and HMG were well-sited. If only I could do bypass movement, I would have gone even further east. Ha
Fun Scenario by Pete Pollard!
