I really like SQLPO. I was wondering if there's anything out there
that lets you save SQLPO objects on an actual Ruby on Rails server,
similar to the way we save them now. I think this is asking for a
lot, but if anyone knows of anything please let me know!

It's not a local persistence solution but ObjectiveResource lets you
fetch and save to a Rails server.
