Sqldf runs into 'c stack usage too close to the limit' error

After load package RPostgreSQL package I am running into an issue with sqldf as follows-
> sqldf("select * from iris limit 5", drv = "SQLite")
Error: C stack usage 7969728 is too close to the limit
Does anyone know a fix?
