Friends,
Imagine millions of children and infants starving to death.
Why?
Their basic food intake i.e. milk is scarce and is available with great difficulty.
Where?
Nepal, post the earthquakes, is completely battered and there is severe shortage of milk. The need of the hour is to save these poor children from starvation. Its a fight for survival for the children and we at Madras Sterling Round Table 123 have taken a small
step to ensure we help the victims in Nepal with this basic necessity.
Madras Sterling Round Table 123 have taken a small step to ensure we help the victims in Nepal with the basic necessity of providing milk to children, where there is severe shortage of milk. The need of the hour is to save these poor children from starvation.
Madras Sterling Round Table 123 is raising funds to source milk powder and send the same to the Dairy Board in Nepal. With the help of Round Table Nepal, the milk powder would reach the needy children. Adequate arrangements have been made by Round Table India
to ensure the funds are raised, quality milk powder is sourced, transported to Nepal and delivered to the children at the earliest. We are raising funds to source over 40 Tonnes of milk powder (Approx Value Rs.1.4 Crores) at highly subsidized rates (subsidized
rate of Rs.20 Lakhs) courtesy Arokya, which is one of the largest private dairies in India.
We have already sourced 10 Tonnes of milk powder (market value Rs.35 Lakhs) from Arokya, who have come forward to donate for this noble cause. We have set up collection points for raising funds at various partner restaurants -
Copper Chimney, Cream Centre, Bombay Brasserie, Marina, Hot Breads, Indiska Magic and French Loaf
- so that people can walk in and make their donation in multiples of Rs. 500/-. Every Rs. 500/- donated would sponsor a glass of milk for one child for 3 months, and more over save the lives of many children.
Public are invited to donate online and be a part of this movement. All information about this project will be available on
www.milkfornepal.com - a dedicated website for receiving donations for sourcing milk for the children of Nepal.
Why source milk powder and not milk directly? Milk powder can be easily transported and has a larger shelf life. Each kilo of milk powder can yield 10 litres of milk. Also, by nature and superior packaging, milk powder is less perishable and does not get adulterated
easily. To help us in our cause,
Inland Roadways has come forward to
transport the milk powder to Nepal at no charge. Round Table India Area 4 is managing the co-ordination and logistics
with the Nepal counterparts.
