\echo in deploy, revert, and verify

I'm trying to teach myself sqitch to deploy a database using 

postgresql. If in my code in deploy or revert, I have

a command "\echo deploy" or "\echo revert", I see the

expected output. But if in my verify code, I have "\echo verify",

I don't see the expected output. Is this intended behavior?

If so, why is verify different then deploy or revert?
