Hi all

We are happy to let you know that we just released the 0.5.XX version of the software, now directly available with pip/conda/git with a smoother installation process, automatically tested on all platforms. Please upgrade your 0.4.XX versions accordingly, as it will help up to troubleshoot any potential errors. The online documentation has also been updated for 0.5.XX

Despite changes under the hood, no major changes, from a user's point of view, except that the .params file is slightly changed. You should now provide a file_format argument in the [data] section (see http://spyking-circus.readthedocs.io/en/latest/code/fileformat.html), and some more depending on the file format you are using. Moreover, N_t and radius are now in the [detection] section.

You can find the list of all changes in the changelog. Note that if you are interested in contributing to file wrappers (to load your own custom file format), do not hesitate to get in touch with us. Future plans for us is now to focus on our online implementation of the code, and again, be in touch if interested.

Happy sorting

The SpyKING CIRCUS team

Because of some issues during the release with packaging, please note that 0.5.5 should be the safe version of 0.5. It is available through all channels, and sorry for the inconvenience. Again, please regularly think about updating the software as we are doing our best to improve it, regularly, based on user's feedback. See the changelog to get a feeling of what are the news.

Main new features in 0.5.5 is the already mentioned smart_select option for the clustering. This is still experimental, but you are welcome to try it if you are not satisfied with the automatic clustering. We'll explain soon more in depth on the website what the option is doing and are looking for feedback. In the nutshell, it should find more clusters, mostly for dataset with very weak or very high firing rates.

Best

Pierre
