Dear all

I just want to let you know that we pushed yesterday a release candidate for our 0.5 version (0.5rc). We'll soon make a proper switch from 0.4.3 to 0.5, so I would really encourage everybody who is still using 0.4.XX to make the switch now, and use this opportunity to report bugs/issues with 0.5 before we make an official release. This is not a major change from a user point of view, so it should be rather straightforward. To remind you, among the new features that you'll find in 0.5 you have

* support for various file format (not only raw binary, but anything you want .hdf5, .openephys, ...)
* simpler installation procedure, tested automatically on all platforms (with conda and pip)
* export in sparse mode for latest version of phy, making the visualisation of templates for large density probes way faster
* minor bug fixes/optimisations here and there
* improved stability/robustness/speed
* better clustering

See the full changelog for more details. To install 0.5 (as this is still a pre-release), you need to follow the instructions described at http://spyking-circus.readthedocs.io/en/0.5/introduction/install.html

Full documentation can be found here http://spyking-circus.readthedocs.io/en/0.5, but let us know if you have any trouble while making the switch. Keep in mind that we recommend to regularly update the software (and also phy/phy-contrib if you are using those GUIs for visualisation purposes).

Best

Pierre
