Detection of a spike only on subset of channels

Hi,

we are new to spyking circus and ran into the following problem: We are using tetrodes and the probe file is set up in a way that spikes should be detected only on the four channels of a single tetrode which seems to work fine in general. However, sometimes spikes are only detected on a subset of these four channels despite being clearly visible on the others (sometimes they even seem to have bigger amplitudes and nicer spike shapes). What is the reason for that? And is there a way to avoid it so spikes are detected on every channel where they are present?

Many thanks for any help!

Best regards,
Cornelia

You are looking to the data via phy, and I can not exclude that the colors assigned by phy are incorrect. at least on your images, the fact that you have very small colored snippets (in time) makes me suspicious. Could you look at the templates instead of individual spikes? And maybe, you can try spykingcircus2 (now part of spikeinterface), that is more up to date than spyking-circus 1 (not maintained anymore). I agree with you that the templates should cover the 4 channels of the tetrodes, looking at your plots

Thanks a lot for your fast reply! It indeed seems to be a display issue in phy. Attached here is an image that shows the same spike in phy and in the spyking circus result-GUI. In the latter it seems clear that the spike is only detected on 3 channels. It seems that the raw trace is displayed differently in phy and spyking-circus. I am not sure why that would be.
