I think that more useful than a Plot of an 1D array would be to have an histogram (e.g. as in the matplotlib function hist()). Is it possible to have this option in the context menu for 1D arrays?
I understand that you don't want to crowd the context menu too much, but I think this would be a really useful feature.

Thank you!

I don't have matplotlib and can barely imagine what do you want. Can you upload a video to youtube with current Plot and your histogram wanted? I am sure that if people like it, somebody can come up with a plugin for that.

I'll take care of it.

This is done in forthcoming v2.1.5.

Histogram works nice! I think this is a valuable addition.

Note that I think the changeset (2054d5e87af7) before that has some
unwanted side effects: spyder always opens with all the window docks in
detached mode. I created issue 882 for this:
http://code.google.com/p/spyderlib/issues/detail?id=882

David

I've just fixed this regression. It should be working again now.

Thanks for implementing my suggestion!
There's just a minor problem that should be easy to solve. When the
number of bins is changed in the "Parameters" dialog, the y-axis
limits should be updated to show the new maximum y values (that change
with the bin size).

Thank you very much!
