File filter

Is it possible to change the default filter in File --> Open?

No, such an option is not implemented.

For now, the default filter of the Open file dialog is either "Python
files" when no file is currently opened or the filter that matches the
type of the currently edited file.

However, if you want to suggest a different behavior or any new
feature, you are very welcome to use our "Issues" management tool at
Spyder's GoogleCode website and fill out a new Issue form.

Hmm, I am not seeing that.

Spyder Version: 2.2.0
Python Version: 2.7.3
Qt Version: 4.8.1, PyQt4 (API v2) 4.9.1 on Linux

I always get "Python files" regardless of what file I am working on.
