I'm trying to get a dark theme setup for Spyder, and am running into problems. I understand easily enough to go to syntax coloring to change the IPython editor theme, but it doesn't seem to do anything to change the color of the console screen? For example, the menu bar, help box, and scrollbar are still all white and light grey. It's a bit jarring and I can't figure out how in the work to change it (ideally to something like pyCharm's Darkcula theme).

Any ideas how to do it?

Hi,

Please take a look at this issue

https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder/issues/2350

for instructions on how to use a dark theme for the whole interface.

However, you need to be aware that that solution is not officially supported by the Spyder development team, and that a better solution is being created for Spyder 4.

Cheers,
Carlos
