I recently updated all my conda packages via conda update --all. After it was complete I tried to open Spyder and I got the following message:

I have tried:
  • deleting .spyder-py3 and .spyder-py2
  • spyder --reset
  • uninstalling spyder
  • reinstalling spyder
Also, I know that python is working just fine as PyCharm works fine. I just want my Spyder back...

Hi,

Please run in a terminal

    spyder --show-console

and post here the results reported there.

Cheers,
Carlos

Carlos,

Thanks for the reply.

I still receive the same error as shown above. I have tried to uninstall spyder through pip uninstall spyder and then reinstall it via pip. I am at a complete loss as to why it will not work.

Just so everyone knows....I was finally able to solve my issue by:
  • uninstalling and reinstalling Anaconda
  • spyder --reset

Hi,
It worked for me. But I should do this every time and it prints the same message as above every time i pin spyder to the taskbar. Is there a solution for this?

Vinay,

I haven't had any issues since I uninstalled and reinstalled Anaconda and reset Spyder.
