Hi all,

On the behalf of the Spyder Project Contributors, I’m pleased to announce that Spyder 4.1.2 has been released and is available for Windows, GNU/Linux and MacOS X: https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder/releases

This release comes two weeks after version 4.1.1 and it contains the following new features and important fixes:

  • New features

    • Add a new entry to the status bar to show the current state of Python language server. This will allow users to know if completions, linting and folding are working as expected or have issues. Clicking on this entry will also show a menu from which is possible to restart the server manually.
  • Important fixes

    • Completely disable warning informing to restart Spyder when a screen resolution change is detected on macOS.
    • Show an error message when it’s not possible to create a special console for Sympy, Cython or Pylab.
    • Restore code folding for all files with less than 2000 lines.
    • Fix showing help for dot objects (e.g. np.sin) in the IPython console.
    • Fix showing kernel initialization error messages on Windows.

In this release we fixed 16 issues and merged 23 pull requests that amount to more than 120 commits. For a full list of fixes, please see our Changelog.

Don’t forget to follow Spyder updates/news on the project’s website.

Last, but not least, we welcome any contribution that helps making Spyder an efficient scientific development and computing environment. Join us to help creating your favorite environment!

Enjoy!
Carlos

I heard that Anaconda does not offer the latest version of Spyder from its website. So to update Spyder using Anaconda is it always necessary to use: 'conda update anaconda' and then 'conda update spyder' to have the new version 4.1.2 of Spyder?
Thank you very much
