I’ve looked online in a few places, but I just can’t seem to find anything that lets me swap tabs in the main window in Spyder other than the CMD-E, which isn’t actually a shortcut at all if you’ve got less than ten open scripts (99% of the time). I’m on a Macbook Air, OS 10.9 Mavericks. I also tried CMD and/or CTL-PageUp/PageDown, but since I don’t have the physical key, the Fn-Arrowkey combo nor the mouse buttons that double for that works either.

Seems like a pretty major feature to have missing? I’m accustomed to swapping tabs in, for example, Safari or Chrome via CTL-TAB just like I am swapping apps with CMD-TAB (Alt-tab for you Windows people), and it would save lots of time.

Anyone know if it’s a feature or what the keyboard shortcut would be?

Many thanks!

On Windows you can use Ctrl+Tab. This switches to the last viewed tab, but it is quite annoying, since when you release the Ctrl and try to Ctrl+Tab again, you go to the second-latest-viewed tab. The expected behavior is to go back to the tab you were before switching the first time. That way I have to keep in mind if I should use Ctrl+Tab or Ctrl+Shift+Tab to the actual last tab.

I sent a message to this list about this "bug" on 22/01/2015, but got no response:

By the way, you may try to find the shortcut on Mac on Tools->Preferences->Keyboard shortcuts. I have:

Context Name Mod1 Mod2 Mod3 Key

editor go to next file   Shift Ctrl Tab

editor go to previous file     Ctrl Tab

Maybe you can find an answer from there or define your own shortcut.
