Editing XML files in Spyder

Hello all,

I'm having trouble opening XML files from the "file explorer" widget, or using drag and drop into the Editor.
I managed to open an XML file using the File»Open menu, but it's not practical.

I can see that HTML doesn't have this problem.
What am I missing?
