Hi,

Spyder 3.0 is still compatible with Python 2.7. To install it, please follow the instructions present here:

https://github.com/spyder-ide/spyder/releases/tag/v3.0.0b6

Cheers,
Carlos

Hi,

I have the well-documented problem of extreme slowness in the Spyder editor on Mac El Capitan and have reverted to using IDLE for the past 6 months.  The download instructions for Spyder 3 beta in Anaconda don't work for me, presumably because Anaconda doesn't want to update qt to version 5.0.  I'm not asking for troubleshooting help, just when the team expects to have Spyder 3 for 2.7 as part of the regular Anaconda distribution.

Hi,

Spyder 3.0 along with Qt/PyQt 5.6.0 will be released with Anaconda 4.2 on September 27 :-)

Cheers,
Carlos

I updated QT/PyQT to 5.6 but in order to do so conda downgraded spyder from 2.3.8 to 2.2.0.
If I then try to update spyder it wants to downgrade anaconda-navigator, matplotlib, pyqt & qtconsole,
Anyone know a fix?

Hi,

What conda version are you using? You should run first

    conda update conda

and then try to update Spyder :-)

Cheers,
Carlos

Current conda install:

               platform : win-64
          conda version : 4.2.9
       conda is private : False
      conda-env version : 4.2.9
    conda-build version : 2.0.1
         python version : 2.7.11.final.0
       requests version : 2.11.1

>>> conda update spyder gives:

The following packages will be UPDATED:

    spyder:             2.2.0-py27_0      --> 2.3.8-py27_1
    spyder-app:         2.2.0-py27_0      --> 2.3.8-py27_0

The following packages will be DOWNGRADED due to dependency conflicts:

    anaconda-navigator: 1.3.1-py27_0      --> 1.2.3-py27_0
    matplotlib:         1.5.3-np111py27_0 --> 1.5.1-np111py27_0
    pyqt:               5.6.0-py27_0      --> 4.11.4-py27_6
    qtconsole:          4.2.1-py27_2      --> 4.2.1-py27_0

Proceed ([y]/n)?
