I had a spyder 4 beta version installed on this pc but have attempted a clean installation of Anaconda on a Windows 10 64 Bit install. After typing in:

conda update anaconda

The Anaconda installation is updated but spyder remains at version 3.3.6.

Typing in:

conda update spyder

Gives the following:

spydererror1.PNG

The dependency jedi is downgraded... If I proceed:

spydererror3.PNG

I get the following error that the dependency is missing...

If I attempt to update jedi using

conda update jedi

Anaconda will downgrade spyder 4.0.1 to spyder 3.3.6...

Managed to solve this on a Windows 10 Version 1909 PC and a Windows 8.1 VM by using the command:

conda update --all

For Windows 10 Version 1909 I used the Anaconda Powershell prompt (Windows 10) but for Windows 8.1 I used the Anaconda Prompt (Windows 8.1) CMD as the same command didn't work in the Windows 8.1 PowerShell Prompt.

For some reason it doesn't recognise the command but lets one proceed by pressing y. In any case it updates spyder to version 4.0.1 including all dependencies.
