How do I launch Spyder with python.app

Hi,

in the settings of Spyder I found the following option: Launch Spyder with python.app to enable Apple event integrations.

I'm not 100% clear what is meant by that and couldn't find anything in the docs. Would anybody mind explaining to me how to enable that exactly? I have a rough idea but am not completely sure.
