Windows 10, Spyder 3.2.8 on Anaconda 1.8.7 - spyder stuck on white screen

Hi,

I've installed Anaconda 1.8.7 and am trying to run Spyder. It gets stuck on a white screen.

When I Launch the application from the Anaconda Navigator, I get the splash screen, and then a white window pops up. It's like Spyder is trying to start but doesn't get past the white screen.

I downgraded Spyder to 3.2.7 and then upgraded it again to 3.2.8 when I ran a 'conda update spyder' from the Anaconda command prompt. I uninstalled and reinstalled Anaconda.

I did get a message that Spyder 3.3.0 is out but it said to upgrade through the conda (not the pip) and when I did the 'conda update spyder' it only brought it up to 3.2.8. There are very strenuous warnings all over the Spyder update that you should use Anaconda and go through the conda update and I'm not an advanced user.

Can anyone help?
