Garba and Dandiya Raas
These are very vibrant folk forms of Gujarat danced during the nine days of navratri and other religious and cultural occasions. What we shall be teaching is :

Garba : This dance is performed with free hand movements, with clapping. The trainees shall be trained in six to seven different dance steps/formations involving different movements. They will take you gradually from slow to fast movement.

Dandiya raas : This is a dance form where dancers use sticks called Dandiya.Just as in garba, trainees shall be trained in six to seven different dance steps/formations. The tempo gradually increases from slow to fast.

Heench / Teen Taali : The last form, usually danced after garba and dandiya raas is the teen taali, and the heench. Both are very similar but different styles of dancing and trainees shall also be exposed to some steps in both these
forms.
The month long period of classes is required since each formation needs 2-3 days to learn. If trainees miss some classes, we encourage them to attend more sessions on other days to make up for it, but upon permission from the gurujis.
After the Classes we shall all come together to celebrate Navratri by dancing together on the first day of Navratri on 16th
October and 27thOctober under the full moon at Sardar Patel Vidyalaya grounds and then for a two-day Garba Mahotsav at Pandara Park on 19 th and 20 th October 2012 .
