I vote for a curated list of typefaces like Bear does. This will solve most issues of taste. I like Avenir, but not in this context. It is totally taste, but you have obviously put a lot of care and energy into creating an aesthetically pleasing app. Note taking typeface choices would be a huge win. Thanks.

I have one document which says that Agenda light, medium and bold is missing. If I open another document they are there, see screengrab 1. If I copy and paste those three type boxes to my troublesome document I get the dreaded pink highlight! See screengrab 2. If I try to reselect the typeface through the menu bar nothing changes, still have the pink highlight. (screengrab)

The university has two official typefaces that can be downloaded for campus use: Agenda (sans-serif) and Utopia (serif). Instructions for accessing them, as well as secondary typefaces and substitutes for applications that do not have them, are below.

Graphic designers Julien Sens and Nicolas Damiens have transformed the handwriting of David Bowie, John Lennon, Kurt Cobain, Leonard Cohen, Serge Gainsbourg and others, into free-to-use rock star fonts and typefaces.

The pair drew upon handwritten letters and notes penned by Kurt and co to develop the new typefaces. Called Songwriter Fonts, the typefaces were intended to inspire songwriters - though fans and creatives alike will want to download and use them.

"The most difficult ones to work on were Leonard Cohen and Serge Gainsbourg, because it took time to shape every letter so that they can link to each other," the pair explain. They're working on more typefaces including The Notorious B.I.G. and Janis Joplin that will be released next month.

Comic Sans is one of the most used and most reviled typefaces of the digital age. How was it made? How could it spawn a movement to ban it and yet still be so widely promoted by educators? What does its accidental creator make of its contentious and singular history?

This quirky and unique book considers how the computer transformed type into something that anyone could use and have an opinion on. It examines how a typeface, correctly used, may sell us almost anything, and how new types with names such as Crash Soul, Lovely Scream Queens and Ampersandist (to name but three recent examples of the hundreds issued each year) each attempt to keep the alphabet exciting and new. And it concludes with an alluring question: could Comic Sans now be the coolest typeface ever made?

Bank Gothic is a very popular choice as a titling face for science fiction books, posters and countless television and movie titles. It is also a popular typeface for use in computer games and digital graphics.

I'm not looking for a typeface that looks similar to it necessarily, but something that is used in similar applications and carries the same sort of aesthetic expression, that cultural/classy/artistic feeling

In this example, the concept of grammar and production variables can relate to the theory of agenda setting. This theory describes the power media has to shape what stories are featured more prominently, thus influencing what the public regards as most important. By using the production elements of font size, boldness, picture size, placement, etc. newspapers are able to set the agenda of what is most important for their readers.

The conference will include presentations, conversations and workshops with leading native researchers and linguists, as well as non-native designers working in partnership with native communities. A multidisciplinary agenda encompasses Typography Design and Collaboration; Education and Publishing; and Alphabets: Spelling, and Writing Standardization.

When designing a typeface, she explained, there is the idea that designers face the work alone, resolving the form and function to their liking. But in reality when developing fonts for languages other than their own, it is necessary to generate multidisciplinary connections with users, linguists, editors, and communities that want and need a font as a tool to develop other materials.

The logo, marked by the large custom-drawn TOA lettering, is a bold visual statement to match the impact of our research, messaging, and training. The vibrant, primary color palette reflects our work to challenge white supremacy, evoking themes of intersectionality, gathering in community, and the energy and passion that grounds movement building. The brand also represents our optimism and playfulness while being designed to shift seamlessly to match our resolve whenever the moment calls. Our new font and typeface are minimalistic and modern to evolve with the times while ensuring versatility and legibility. Furthermore, the high contrast of our new brand colors is designed for digital spaces and chosen to ensure visual accessibility.

In order to be consistent within a project without becoming repetitive, it can help if a typeface offers a large font family that cover different styles, weights and widths. The notion of an extended, organised type family (or 'superfamily' if it contains different classifications, such as a serif and a sans serif) is a relatively new concept, and has only been around as we know it today for just over a century.
