82579v Gigabit Network Driver Download

Intel has specifically removed the ability for Server OS to install the Intel 82579V as a network adapter. For those of us with an Intel NUC Kit DC3217IYE or similar models with Desktop OS only supported, we are kind of out of luck unless you know how to edit the INF file to allow the driver to install.
You will need either 7-Zip or Winzip to extract the .exe into usable directories.
You will need the latest version of the driver for you network adaptor. Mine was for Windows 7 and I will be installing on Server 2016.

saved my life and my wallet, I installed Windows Server 2016 on a server with this network card and was not getting any drivers that worked, thanks to your tutorial I was able to install and make the network card work.

I am using kernel 2.6.39, on Debian stable (I got the kernel from backports). Other than the kernel and a few related packages needed to get it going, the system is 100% Debian 6.0. The kernel detects the network hardware and loads the e1000e driver on boot. There is nothing strange in the logs.
