Matereality has had a proven relationship with SolidWorks where it has helped to validate and maintain SolidWorks' internal material databases for many years now. SolidWorks chose Matereality as its partner in this because of the domain expertise of the DatapointLabs-Matereality group in the science of materials for CAE, which allows SolidWorks to continue to focus on its CAD/CAE core," says Vajrang Parvate, Development Director at SolidWorks.
While SolidWorks CAD ships with a standard, comprehensive and customizable database of material properties, there is a need to expand this database for the growing SolidWorks Simulation community. Pre-defined data for more advanced material models are needed, such as fatigue curves, hyperelastic properties of rubber, and viscoelastic data on plastics. The eventual goal is that every material model available in SolidWorks Simulation software will have accompanying material data available on the SolidWorks Materials Web Portal.
Plastics material suppliers Invista and Ticona have released their data collections at the forefront of a new initiative to bring material suppliers' data directly into the SolidWorks ecosystem. More data will become available on the SolidWorks Materials Web Portal as additional material suppliers join the program.
Matereality, LLC, headquartered in Ithaca, NY USA, operates private and public cloud material databases for use in product design and manufacturing. Empowered by a suite of web-based software that allows users to work with material data for trend visualization, CAE material parameter conversion, and database building, these databases can store any properties of any materials. Matereality's ready-for-deployment, patented technology provides material databases and solutions for different needs, budgets and company sizes: a Personal Database for one user, a Workgroup Database for small groups, and Material Data Servers for manufacturing enterprises.
Matereality is an affiliate of DatapointLabs, LLC. Together, the companies deliver a comprehensive materials science resource, providing accurate material testing and software for centralized materials knowledge management that helps accelerate the pace of product development. The group has a diverse global user base, including automotive, aerospace, appliance, biomedical, consumer products, electronics, and material supplier verticals.

hyperMILL for SOLIDWORKS allows the user to work in both single part mode and assembly mode. Clamps and holders are taken into account during collision checking and the hyperMILL data is saved together with the relevant machining group.
The feature technology provided by hyperMILL allows geometries from the CAD system to be used for CAM programming. For example, holes, threads and pockets can be detected on solid and face models thanks to automatic feature recognition. Furthermore, machining strategies and tools can be linked with features in technology macros and saved in a technology database.
